Shockwave in Drayton Manor Park ( Drayton Bassett , Staffordshire , UK ) is a steel roller coaster from the Stand-Up Coaster model manufactured by Intamin , which opened in 1994. Until the opening of Freestyle in Cavallino Matto in 2015, it was the only stand-up roller coaster in Europe.
After the first drop, which is designed as a curve, the 500 m long route leads through a looping directly followed by a zero-g-roll . This is followed by the double corkscrew . The final brake then follows after another curve.
Shockwave is the only stand-up coaster in the world with a zero-g-roll.
Until 2003, Shockwave's rails were blue-green and the supports were brown. It has had blue rails and white supports since 2004.
Trains
Shockwave owns two trains with six cars each. Four people (one row) can be seated in each car. The passengers must be at least 1.42 m tall to be allowed to ride. Shoulder straps are used as a restraint system.
