Shruti Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah (श्रुती राज्यलक्ष्मी देवी शाह) (born October 15, 1976 , † June 1, 2001 in Kathmandu ) was a princess of the Nepalese royal family.

Life

Princess Shruti was the only daughter and the second oldest child of King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya .

She attended Kanti Ishwari Sishu Vidhyalaya School in Tripureswar, Nepal and also St Mary's School in Kathmandu, Nepal, and later Mayo College Girls School in Ajmer , India . She did her Bachelor's degree at the Padma Kanya Campus in Kathmandu.

She was married to Kumar Gorakh Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana on May 7, 1997 in Kathmandu. The marriage resulted in two daughters.

In 2001, Princess Shruti, her parents and younger brother Nirajan and other members of the royal family were killed in a massacre . The deed is said to have been committed by her older brother Dipendra . However, this version of the sequence of events is doubted by many citizens in Nepal.

Princess Shruti's ashes were scattered in the Bagmati .

In 1996 she was awarded the Grand Cross of the Federal Cross of Merit.
