Siamose

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The collective term Siamosen includes numerous woven fabrics , often made with double-drawn warp thread (water apron fabric), which are mostly based on cotton , linen or silk , but also consist of blended fabrics made from natural fibers , now also made of viscose .

The canvas-binding and mostly colorfully woven, checkered or colored striped apron fabrics, duvet covers, tablecloths and towels are robust and durable, easy to wash and easy to care for.

They are named after a Siamese trader who brought these goods to France in the second half of the 17th century . The first German Siamoses were woven in the Wuppertal area . They are hardly made today.
