Security zone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Security Zone ( English Safety Area ) (also: Fummel zone ) is a term from the shooting sports .

In dynamic shooting sports disciplines ( e.g. IPSC shooting , PPC 1500 or multi-distance shooting ), it describes a place where the participants in a shooting competition can independently handle their sporting weapons, e.g. B. for cleaning or repairs. No ammunition or objects similar to ammunition may be handled in the security zone.

Outside the safety zone, weapons may only be handled under supervision and following direct orders from the shooting supervisor or the range officer , but ammunition may be handled there, e. B. to fill up the magazine .

This strict separation of weapons and ammunition is intended to ensure a regular process and prevent accidents caused by unintentional accidental firing of guns. Violations are usually punished with immediate disqualification and exclusion from the competition.
