Alena Walkawez ( Belarusian Алена Валкавец , Russian Елена Волковец / Jelena Wolkowez; born January 3, 1975 ) is a former Belarusian biathlete and cross-country skier .

Alena Walkawez, who is only 1.50 m tall, was initially a cross-country skier and competed in FIS races and the Cross-Country European Cup in 1996 and 1997 . She made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup at the start of the 1998/99 season . In Hochfilzen she was 71 in her first individual. In Oberhof she won her two first and only World Cup points as the 24th of a sprint race later in the season. It took another year for the Belarusian to contest her first international championships in Kościelisko at the 2000 European Biathlon Championships . In the individual she reached a 31st place, was ninth in the sprint, 20th in the pursuit race and with Swetlana Belan , Inna Scheschkil and Swetlana Paramygina she just missed a medal in fourth place. In the further course of the season she came to her only use at the World Championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo and finished eleventh in the relay race with Irina Tananaiko , Natalia Permiakowa and Lyudmila Arlouskaja , in which she was used as the final runner. Further appearances in the World Cup followed regularly until 2001 . Walkawez had her last international appearance at the 2001 European Championships in Haute-Maurienne . In France, she finished 34th in the individual. In November 2003, at the end of her career, she finished 29th in a cross-country sprint of the Continental Cup in Kirovsk.
