Sid Kiel
Sid Kiel (actually Sidney Kiel; * July 18, 1916 in Vrede ; † July 19, 2007 ) was a South African hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance .
In 1936 he was nominated for the Olympic Games in Berlin , but, as a Jew , refrained from starting in National Socialist Germany .
At the British Empire Games in Sydney in 1938 , he was fifth. He set his best time over this distance of 14.4 s on October 2, 1937 in Cape Town .
