Sidney Abrahams
Sir Sidney Solomon "Solly" Abrahams (born February 11, 1885 in Birmingham , † May 14, 1957 in London ) was a British long jumper and sprinter .
At the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in 1906 , he was fifth in the long jump and reached the semi-finals in the 100-meter run . In 1912 he was twelfth in the long jump at the Olympic Games in Stockholm . A year later he won the title in the same discipline at the British championship.
His younger brother Harold Abrahams became Olympic champion in the 100 m in 1924. The other brother, Adolphe Abrahams, was the founder of sports science in Great Britain.
Sidney was Abraham's Chief Justice in Ceylon from 1936 to 1939 . He then became President of the London Athletic Club.
In 1939 he was knighted as a Knight Bachelor .
