The Freier waterfall

The Seven Sisters ( Norwegian Dei sju systrene and De syv søstre ) are seven side by side in the fjord tumbling waterfalls in the Geiranger fjord in Norway . The greatest height of fall of the water is 300 meters. Since it snows less and less in the winters and the waterfalls are fed by the meltwater from the fells , only four sisters can sometimes be seen in the summer months . To the north of the waterfall is the Knivsflå mountain farm .

The Seven Sisters, in addition to the end on the opposite side of the fjord waterfall Free (norw. Friaren ) one of the natural attractions on a ride through the Geiranger Fjord. This fame is mainly due to the legend associated with the names and appearance.

According to legend, the suitor wanted to marry each of the seven sisters one after the other. However, all refused and rejected his solicitation. Thereupon the suitor took up the bottle and became an alcoholic. This is reflected in the shape of the waterfall, which took the shape of a bottle.
