Murjek ( Sami Muorjek ) is a place in northern Sweden about five kilometers south of the Arctic Circle . It is located about 100 km north of Luleå and 60 km southeast of Jokkmokk and belongs to the municipality of Jokkmokk in the Swedish province of Norrbotten County and the historical province (landskap) of Lapland .

Murjek is the only ore railway station from Luleå to Narvik in Jokkmokk municipality. Several passenger trains stop here every day. There is a bus connection to Jokkmokk via Vuollerim . The journey time is around an hour. The nearest airports are Luleå and Kiruna . There is a youth hostel in town .

The population of the place is declining sharply: In 1960 Murjek had 460 inhabitants, in 1980 it was over 200 for the last time; after that the status of a crime scene was lost, after 2010 (51 inhabitants) also that of a Småort .
