Puottaure ( Lule : Bhuottavvre ) is a settlement in the municipality of Jokkmokk in the Swedish province County Norrbotten and the historic province of Norrbotten . The place has a church and an adjacent lake of the same name.

General

The small town of Puottaure is located in the southern part of the municipality of Jokkmokk and consists of a few houses and farms that are generally inhabited by Swedish residents. Despite its rural location, the settlement is rather unknown to tourists. The location on a connecting road ( Riksväg 97 - European route 45 ) has not necessarily made the place better known, but this location ensures good accessibility to the nearby places ( e.g. the Småort Kåbdalis (20 km away) or the crime scene Harads (41 km away)) . The nearest train station is the Kitajaur station on the Inlandsbahn, about 15 km away .

Due to the size of the place mentioned at the beginning, it lacks basic infrastructure facilities such as supermarkets or schools / day care centers. The population in Puottaure cannot be precisely determined today. The responsible Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB) only gives the population of places with more than 50 inhabitants ( Småort ). The place has a church completed in 1907, which was mentioned by the Jokkmokk community, among others. In 1954 it was renovated. It consists of a choir, a tower, a nave and a sacristy. The interior is clad with wood.
