Siebenhitze (desertification)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Seven heat is a deserted village in present-day city of Eisleben .

location

The formerly small settlement was located in the area of today's Vorderen- and Hinteren Siebenhitze in Lutherstadt Eisleben near the “Rammtor”, which was built when Eisleben was walled for the second time.

history

The name suggests Slavic origins. In places in the area (e.g. in Allstedt or in Leimbach near Querfurt ) there are separate quarters with this name. Hermann Großler suspected a connection with the Slavic word sibonitza (= gallows), which fits in the case of Eisleben. In Allstedt it is certain that Slavs lived on the Siebenhitze.
