The Möhrenstieg settlement is a listed settlement in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located east of downtown Quedlinburg, north of Magdeburger Strasse at Möhrenstieg 1 to 12, and is listed as a settlement in the Quedlinburg monument register.

Architecture and history

The settlement was built in 1927 based on a design by Quedlinburg city planning officer Paul Laumer . Six very similarly designed multi-family houses were built in close proximity to the railway facilities and arranged in a V-shape to one another. The simply designed houses were intended for socially disadvantaged families.

The houses have a plastered base and an upper floor clad with boards. The buildings are covered by hipped roofs on which there are long pike dormers on the street side . The house entrance areas are designed in the style of Expressionism , albeit cautiously . Originally existing shutters are currently (as of 2012) not on the buildings.

The owner (a housing association of the city of Quedlinburg) is currently making efforts to empty the settlement so that it can then be demolished.

Wowi is artificially creating vacancies here so that at some point, and the time has come, it will be able to say that here nobody wants to live anymore and starts demolishing. '").
