Siegfried Eckert

Siegfried Eckert (born August 13, 1956 ) is a German basketball official and trainer. He is the bearer of the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Federation.

career

Eckert initially worked in basketball at FT 1844 Freiburg, after the basketball department there was dissolved, he was one of the founders of the basketball department of USC Freiburg in 1972 , played on the field and worked as a coach, referee and official in the following decades. Together with Klaus Westerhoff and Dieter Schmidt-Volkmar, he played a key role in establishing and promoting competitive sports in the USC basketball department in the 1970s. In 1978 he took over the management of the USC basketball department, which was awarded the "Green Ribbon for exemplary promotion of talent in clubs" in 1997 and became one of the largest basketball clubs in Germany. In addition, he worked for the USC-Gesamtverein (treasurer), the Basketball Association of Baden-Württemberg (BBW) and the German Basketball Federation (DBB). In 1980 he became BBW youth warden, between 1985 and 1991 Eckert was the BBW's vice-president for youth affairs, from 1991 vice-president for finances, in 1986 he became a member of the DBB youth committee and is responsible for the association's youth game manager, among other things, for the German youth championships He is responsible for the national youth camp and the female youth basketball league (WNBL), and he is also a member of the organizational management of the Albert Schweitzer tournament . In 1991 he was in charge of organizing the Federal Youth Camp in Freiburg.
