Siegfried Eichhorn

Siegfried Eichhorn (born December 28, 1923 in Elberfeld , today Wuppertal , † September 29, 2005 in Düsseldorf ) was a German economist with a focus on health and hospital economics .

Life

A native of King James Siegfried Eichhorn took to the put-away Abitur studied economic and social sciences at the University of Cologne in 1953, he passed the final examination for merchants, a year later he was at Erich Gutenberg to Dr. rer. pole. PhD . Eichhorn started his professional career in 1953 as a management assistant, later he switched to auditing and appraisal services at a Düsseldorf auditing consultancy. In addition, he has been involved in leading positions at the German Hospital Institute eV (DKI) in Düsseldorf since 1953. He was responsible for setting up the business administration department of the DKI, of which he was appointed first head. In 1959 he was elected to the institute's management, where he held the function of managing director until he moved to the TU Berlin .

Eichhorn also held teaching positions from 1962 to 1973 at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne, from 1973 at the Technical University of Berlin and from 1965 to 1972 at the University of Düsseldorf , where he qualified as a professor in 1972 for medical organization and hospital economics . In 1984 he switched to the full professor for business administration in the health sector at the Technical University of Berlin , which he held until his retirement in 1989. The economics of the hospital and health care system remained the focus of his research throughout his life .
