Siegfried Fall
Siegfried Fall (born November 30, 1877 in Olomouc , Moravia ; † April 10, 1943 in Theresienstadt concentration camp ) was an Austrian composer , arranger , pianist and accompanist .
Life
Siegfried Fall came from a family of musicians: his father Moritz and his two brothers Leo and Richard were operetta composers . After his training - u. a. at the Berlin University of Music with Heinrich von Herzogenberg and Max Bruch - he composed operas , symphonies , chamber music and songs as a freelance composer . In 1899, his Piano Trio op. 4 was awarded the Mendelssohn Prize for Composition.
On January 23, 1943, Fall was deported to Theresienstadt , where he died a little later. According to other sources, he went into exile in France like his brother Richard , was arrested while attempting to escape to Switzerland, deported to Auschwitz and murdered there.
