Siegfried Fuhrmann
Siegfried Fuhrmann (* 1944 in Hohenbüchen ) is a German artist.
Life
After an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman (industry at the Fagus factory ), Fuhrmann studied art with a focus on art at the Alfeld University of Education and graduated from the University of Hildesheim . Meanwhile, further studies in the workshop of Art Pottery s Jürgen Riecke . First exhibitions with painting / object montages (Museum Alfeld, Kunstverein Hannover ). From 1971 Fuhrmann worked continuously at various schools in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, but at the same time as a freelance designer and artist. From 1981 he exhibited regularly. In 1987, together with his wife Maren and a group of equally participating artists, Fuhrmann founded the art space KX, which soon became internationally known . Art at Kampnagel . At this “off” art location, which has been successful for 15 years, the Fuhrmanns accompanied countless well-known artists on their way (including public relations, acquisition, catalog creation, organization “Week of Fine Art” Hamburg 1992 , member of the advisory committee “Working Group Fine Arts Hamburg” , Jury annual scholarship visual arts Hamburg ). Furthermore, Fuhrmann was on the board of the newly founded, self-administered artist house Sootbörn in Hamburg. Later, Siegfried Fuhrmann was also involved for a few years (until the end of 2014) on the board of the professional association BBK Hamburg .
In his work as an artist, Siegfried Fuhrmann always consciously pursued the principle of self-organization, without recourse to commercial galleries, with regard to his exhibitions at home and abroad, or the "self-marketing" and the mediation of his works. Fuhrmann achieved fame among other things through the peculiarity of his installations. Individual parts of the object can be connected to one another with the help of special couplings, sometimes with the involvement of the vernissage audience. Through the interchangeability of technoid installation elements, the context of the content can be changed to a new meaning. This principle is also common to his drawings. Fuhrmann is always concerned with the obscure relationship between people and their environment, which is naturally determined by technology.
Siegfried Fuhrmann lives and works in Hamburg (studio for compatible form).
