Siegfried Kaidel

Siegfried Kaidel (born March 21, 1951 in Schweinfurt ) is the chairman of the German Rowing Association (DRV).

Kaidel was elected as the successor to Helmut Griep as chairman of the DRV in 2008 and was re-elected for a further two-year term in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. Before he was elected by the delegates to the post of chairman, he had already worked as deputy chairman and treasurer for the executive committee of the DRV from 2001 to 2007.

From 1999 to 2007 Kaidel was already President of the Bavarian Rowing Association, at the same time he has been chairman of the Schweinfurt Rowing Club Franconia from 1882 since 1997 . In 2014 Siegfried Kaidel was elected spokesman for the Olympic and non-Olympic leading associations at DOSB for four years . In accordance with the articles of association, he was a member of the NADA supervisory board .

Born and raised in Schweinfurt, Kaidel came to rowing at an early age through his father, the rower Willi "Bubi" Kaidel . In 1964 he became a member of the Schweinfurt Rowing Club Franconia from 1882 and, in addition to his sporting career, also volunteered early on. His sporting successes include the title of German runner-up , 5th place at the International German Championships and the gold medal at the FISA Master Regatta. In addition to his active career as a rower, Kaidel also worked as a trainer for 12 years and has been national referee for 30 years.

In 2018 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his extraordinary commitment to rowing for around four decades.
