Siegmund Lympasik
Siegmund Lympasik (born January 14, 1920 in Berlin ; † January 2, 1996 there ) was a German painter and graphic artist.
Life
From 1938 Lympasik was a student at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg. In 1947 he returned from captivity. Back in Berlin, he studied at the Berlin Academy . In 1951 Lympasik received the Berlin City Art Prize .
The painter and sculptor Paul Strecker was a great supporter of Lympasik during his time in Berlin, whom he probably met in Paris. Strecker died during the young Lympasik's years of training. Like his later friend Siegfried Kühl, Sigmund Lympasik studied art education. Lympasik lived in the spacious studio of a former court painter on Sybelstrasse in Berlin. Lympasik took up a position at a school, but later received an appointment for teacher training in art education.
Siegmund Lympasik was a member of the German Association of Artists .
Working method
Lympasik was a careful artist whose work processes were always time-consuming. A work has seldom been completed in one work process. There were interruptions in which Lympasik switched back and forth between the individual work. The collagen , which often only parts of individual works were, stuck in Lympasik careful work initially itself. Later this adhesive works were Lympasiks guidance from a professional bookbinder done. The artist himself made the frames for his mostly large-format works.
Lympasik was particularly fascinated by the Tafoni rock formations on Capo Testa in Sardinia. The works on the topic were created from photos that Lympasik took in Sardinia and which are now lost. As a result of the 1951 art prize of the city of Berlin, the market value of the artist's work rose. Despite its popularity, Lympasik found it enriching to take students into his studio and to let them live there.
