Athletic career

In the summer of 1964, the 20-year-old striker Siegward Reinicke moved from the fourth-class company sports community (BSG) unit Querfurt to the Volkspolizei -sportgemeinschaft Dynamo Eisleben . There he played in the second-rate GDR league and immediately won a regular place with 28 appearances in 30 league games. With 21 goals, he was top scorer both for his team and in the GDR league. Reinicke was also the best goalscorer of SG Dynamo in the following three seasons with 16, 8 and 14 goals. He remained a regular player until 1968, before he played only 17 of the 30 point games in 1968/69 due to injury and only scored four goals.

For the season 1969/70 Reinicke moved to the GDR league club BSG Wismut Gera . There he stayed for two seasons, in which he still did not reach his previous form and of the 60 league games played only 40 games in which he scored four or five goals.

From the 1971/72 season on Reinicke played for BSG Motor Hermsdorf , which was also represented in the GDR league. From now on, the league was played with five seasons, in which 22 point games were to be played. Reinicke's start in Hermsdorf was restrained with only ten league appearances and two goals, but from 1972/73 he was able to prevail again as a regular player, but initially remained below his possibilities with his three goals. BSG Motor closed the season as relegated and had to compete in the third-class district league Gera in 1973/74 . With Reinicke, the team became district champions and achieved immediate promotion. Reinicke was able to maintain his regular player status until 1978 and in 1977 was again the best shooter of his team with six goals. In the season 1978/79 he was already 34 years old and passed the zenith of his performance. He was now only used as a defender in twelve point games and remained without a goal. Motor Hermsdorf had to relegate again, but immediately rose again, but in the new GDR league season 1980/81 Reinicke was no longer part of the team. This time Hermsdorf couldn't hold the class, relegated again, but also promoted again. In 1982/83 the now 38-year-old Reinicke helped out again in a GDR league game, but after that he finally ended his career in higher-class football after 285 second division games and 91 goals.
