Sielhof
The Sielhof is a historic building in the municipality of Neuharlingersiel ( Samtgemeinde Esens ) in the Wittmund district in East Friesland / Lower Saxony .
Location and description
The building is centrally located in the center of the North Sea resort of Neuharlingersiel, a few meters south of the small harbor and the pumping station and is surrounded by a park on Neuharlinger Sieltief , just behind the confluence of Altharlinger Sieltief .
The building consists of two brick full storeys with an only partially developed hipped roof that is covered with red roof tiles. There are protruding extensions on both sides of the symmetrically aligned house. In the middle of the main line of sight, a tower with a double curved dome covered with turquoise pans rises above. On the first floor of the tower is the main entrance, accessible via a small flight of stairs , which, like the windows of the building, has portals painted white. The facade is clad with dark red clinker bricks .
history
The origin of the Sielhof goes back to the year 1755, when a two-story stone building by Siebelt Frerichs Eymen was built here. Around 1825 it came into the possession of the Eucken family and was rebuilt by Georg von Eucken-Addenhausen , a descendant of the original purchaser, from 1899–1906 in the style that still exists today into a noble residence with the surrounding parkland. In 1967 a renovation took place.
In 1989 the local community Neuharlingersiel bought the house and since then has been using some parts for the spa and holiday guests, while the catering area is leased.
Todays use
Today there is a privately run restaurant / café on the ground floor. In the other rooms, the community of Neuharlingersiel maintains a manageable gallery with changing exhibitions, a small library with reading room, a writing room, a chess and play room as well as rooms for various events and seminars.
