history

When SFS was founded in October 1997, the Siemens group bundled its financial activities in one organizational unit. In addition to the development of the financial business, the creation of a separate financial balance sheet also focused on increased transparency for investors.

Siemens Financial Services has been an internal competence center for financing issues since 1999 and is active both in the management of the Siemens Group's financial risks and in the market for business-to-business financial solutions. From the beginning, leasing and other forms of plant and equipment financing, project financing and equity investments, treasury and payment transaction solutions for the Siemens Group as well as the financial management of pension assets were among the tasks of SFS. In 2000, the Group's insurance business and Siemens venture capital activities followed.

By expanding its business activities, SFS also strengthened its international presence: In 2000, SFS acquired the British company Schroder Leasing. In the years that followed, Siemens Financial Services expanded not only in the established markets of Europe and North America, but increasingly also in emerging markets. In March 2005, Siemens Financial Services founded its own leasing company in China, Siemens Finance and Leasing Ltd. (SFLL) based in Beijing.

At the beginning of 2011, the Russian competition authority approved the takeover of ZAO DeltaLeasing, a provider of equipment financing in Russia. In October 2011, DeltaLeasing was renamed OOO Siemens Finance and has been providing financing and leasing solutions for capital goods ever since. Siemens Financial Services Private Limited was founded in India in June 2011 and received the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) license for non-bank finance companies (NBFC license).

At the end of 2010, Siemens Bank GmbH received permission from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) to conduct banking business in Germany. Siemens Bank GmbH is expanding the SFS product range with loans and guarantees, particularly in the area of sales financing.
