Infrastructure & Cities (IC) was a main business area (sector) of Siemens AG from October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2014 . At that time, the group’s operational business was divided into the Siemens Sector Energy , Siemens Sector Healthcare , Siemens Sector Industry and Siemens Sector Infrastructure & Cities.

Infrastructure & Cities was divided into the following divisions:

  • Rail Systems
  • Mobility and Logistics: rail automation, infrastructure logistics, intelligent traffic and transport systems, electromobility infrastructure.
  • Low and Medium Voltage
  • Smart grid : intelligent power grid infrastructure, rail electrification, power supply for industry, infrastructure and cities
  • Building Technologies

Infrastructure & Cities managed the global business with cities and infrastructures from Munich . Siemens bundled competencies in it to offer cities solutions for mobility, environmental protection and energy saving . In this sector with around 87,000 employees, the Mobility and Building Technologies divisions from the Industry sector and the Power Distribution division and the smart grid business from the Energy sector have been merged.

As of October 1, 2014, the Siemens AG sector level and thus also the Siemens Sector Infrastructure & Cities ceased to exist.
