Sigfrid Peter

Sigfrid Peter (born March 23, 1939 in Feldkirch ; † December 7, 1997 in Rankweil ) was an Austrian politician (GREEN) and AHS religion professor. From 1984 to 1987 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

After completing elementary school in Batschuns, Peter attended the federal advanced high school in Horn, Lower Austria, and passed his Matura there in 1968 . He then began to study theology at the University of Innsbruck in 1963 and graduated in 1972 with a graduate degree in theology ( Mag. Theol. ). He then worked professionally from 1972 to 1975 as an educator at the Stella Matutina College, and from 1975 to 1983 he was an AHS religion professor at the Federal Training Institute for Work Teachers in Feldkirch. From 1976 to 1977 he also taught at the Federal Commercial School and Federal Commercial Academy Feldkirch. He was also employed from 1978 to 1985 as a teacher at the Higher Technical Federal Training and Research Institute in Rankweil and from 1984 to 1987 at the Academy for Social Work in Bregenz. From 1987 to 1988 he was again a teacher at the higher technical federal teaching and research institute in Rankweil. Peter retired in 1988 for health reasons.

Politics and functions

Between 1984 and 1987 Peter was involved as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Feldkirch Pedagogical Academy and was also a member of the “Diocesan Peace Team”, which later developed into Pax Christi of the Feldkirch diocese. He was also involved as a member and scout leader of the Rankweil scout group and was a member of the alternative list . With the electoral community of the Alternative List and the United Greens of Austria, he and his colleagues succeeded in entering the Vorarlberg state parliament in 1984, which was the first time an ecological movement in Austria succeeded in entering a state parliament. As a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from November 6, 1984 until his resignation on September 30, 1987, as a member of the Feldkirch constituency, he was a member of the culture committee, a member of the social policy committee from 1985, a member of the ombudsman committee and a substitute member of the legal committee.

Private

Peter was born the son of the teacher Walter Peter and his wife Emma Peter. He married Rosa Christine Loacker in 1972 and had two children between 1972 and 1974.
