Sigurd "Siggi" Fassl (* 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian blues and rockabilly guitarist .
Life
Siggi Fassl grew up with country music, which his father often played. He heard Willie Nelson , Kris Kristofferson or Buck Owens . This early character was retained because, in addition to the Mojo Blues Band , he also plays with the Honkytonk Playboys , who have dedicated themselves to country music from the 1930s and 1940s.
He learned his first guitar fingerings at the age of sixteen. He had his first encounter with the blues when he heard Al Cook and Erik Trauner play in Viennese pubs. He made friends with Erik Trauner and listened to his country blues albums with him. Musicians like Mississippi John Hurt , Blind Willie McTell or Robert Johnson became his role models.
In 1988 he founded Hooked On Blues with Christian Sandera , which could be heard on Al Cook's anniversary album 25 Blues Years that same year . After various club concerts and open air appearances, the band was booked as a backing band for Louisiana Red . Her next career highlight was her appearance as the opening act for Magic Slim and the Teardrops . With various bassists and drummers, the band still exists today.
As an accompanying musician, he played with Louisiana Red, Big Jay McNeely , Magic Slim, Eddie Van Shaw and others, and he also worked on studio productions for Al Cook, Johnny & the Creditcards and The Jive Giants . Since 2002 he has performed with the Mojo Blues Band and as a solo musician.
