Sigmund Freud Society

The Sigmund Freud Society is a scientific association founded in 1968 with headquarters in Vienna . Its aim is to promote research on the theory and practice of psychoanalysis in general and its founder Sigmund Freud in particular.

The founding board of directors from 1968 included the two psychoanalysts Friedrich Hacker and Harald Leupold-Löwenthal . The Sigmund Freud Society currently has around 500 members from numerous countries, including doctors, students, psychoanalysts, and artists. Anyone interested in psychoanalysis can become a member of the Sigmund Freud Society.

The society organizes symposiums, discussions and lectures at regular intervals and works closely with the Sigmund Freud Museum and the Sigmund Freud Private Foundation.

The president of the Sigmund Freud Society is currently the psychoanalyst and ÖVP politician Martin Engelberg .
