Sigmund-Thun-Gorge

The Sigmund-Thun-Klamm is a gorge in the local area of Kaprun in Austria . It is up to 32 m deep and 320 m long. The gorge was formed by the Kapruner Ache , which was mainly fed by meltwater from several glaciers in the Hohe Tauern , and goes back to the last ice age . It was named after the former governor of Salzburg , Sigmund von Thun-Hohenstein . For the use of the jetties, which is only possible in the summer months, a small gorge toll has to be paid in order to ensure their maintenance and care.

The closure of the gorge is formed by the Bürgsperre with the Klammsee .
