Signe Paisjärv
Signe Paisjärv (born May 31, 1940 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ; † June 10, 2016 in Tallinn, Estonia ) was an Estonian table tennis player . She won silver for the Soviet Union in the team competition of the European Championship in 1966 and the World Championship in 1967 .
Career
Signe Paisjärv took part in at least three European championships ( 1964 , 1966 , 1968 ). Here she was with the team of the USSR in the team with Swetlana Grinberg second behind Hungary. A year later, at the 1967 World Cup , the USSR team reached the final, which was lost to Japan.
At the national championships of Estonia between 1957 and 1967 she won a total of 20 medals, namely ten gold medals (1964 and 1967 singles), five silver medals and five bronze medals. In mid-1961 she was ranked 17th in the ITTF world rankings .
She was married.
