Swetlana Georgijewna Grinberg ( Russian Светлана Георгиевна Гринберг ; born October 10, 1944 ) is a Russian table tennis player who was among the world's best in the 1960s and 1970s. She became double European and world champion. In addition, she and the team won gold twice at European championships and once gold at world championships. In addition, she was twice individual world champion among seniors.

After her marriage she appeared under the name Svetlana Georgievna Fjodorowa ( Russian Светлана Георгиевна Фёдорова ). The surname is written in the English transliteration Fedorova .

successes

From 1963 to 1975 Grinberg took part in six European championships and six world championships . She achieved her greatest successes with her regular partner in the double Soja Rudnowa .

At the European Championships in 1966 she reached the individual final, which she lost to the Romanian Maria Alexandru . In 1968 she finished second in doubles. Two years later she won the doubles title. They defeated the German doubles Diane Schöler / Agnes Simon in the final . With the Soviet women's team, Grinberg won silver in 1966 and 1968 and gold in 1970 and 1974 .

In the European ranking tournaments TOP-12 she came in sixth place in 1972 and seventh place in 1975.

With Rudnowa she reached the double semifinals at the 1967 World Cup . With the Soviet team she was runner-up in the world championship. In 1969 she won gold in doubles and with the team.

She later took part in senior world championships. In 1994 and 1996 she won the individual title in the age group over 50. She was also successful in doubles. In 2006 she reached the semifinals with Theresia Földy in the 60+ class. She achieved the same result in 2010 in the 65+ class with Elke Hamel .

Trainer and functionary

After the end of her career, she completed a referee training . It is also used at world championships. In the Swaythling Club International supports public relations.

Private

Grinberg comes from Kiev. She studied.
