Theresia Földy

Theresia Földy (* 1946 in Budapest ) is a Swiss table tennis player of Hungarian origin.

Time in Hungary

Földy started playing table tennis when he was 14 years old. In the mid-1960s she became the junior champion of Hungary. During this time she met her future husband Laszlo Földy , who became her trainer.

In 1967 she married Laszlo Földy. When her husband worked as a coach in Iran for two years, she accompanied him there and became Iranian champion in 1968. In 1969 the couple moved to Riehen in Switzerland.

Time in Switzerland

Here she played with the Rapid Geneva club and often took part in Swiss championships . In 1976 and 1977 she became Swiss individual champion. In 1973, 1975 and 1977 she started at world championships . In 1976 she took a baby break and gave birth to her first daughter, Carolin. Evelyn followed a year later. From 1990 to 2001 she won the Swiss championship in women's doubles six times with Tu Dai Yong . She won 11 national titles with the TTC Basel.

Senior competitions

She later took part in international senior competitions. In 2005 she became European senior citizen champion in the over 50 doubles with Elmira Antonyan in Bratislava , and won bronze in singles. At the Senior World Championships in Bremen in 2006, she took third place in the over-60 doubles with Swetlana Fjodorowa .
