Sigrid Rakow (born December 16, 1951 in Oldenburg (Oldenburg) ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After graduating from high school, Rakow did a commercial apprenticeship in Frankfurt am Main . She then studied educational sciences and then worked as a teacher until her election to the state parliament. Most recently she was the rector of Westerstede . She lives in Edewecht and has four children.

politics

In 1992, Rakow joined the SPD. She is a member of the SPD district executive committee Weser-Ems and is the deputy chairwoman of the working group for social democrats in the education sector in the Weser-Ems district. From February 2008 to February 2009, Sigrid Rakow provisionally headed the SPD district association Ammerland. She handed this office over to Dennis Rohde .

Since 1996 she has been a member of the district council in the district of Ammerland . She has also been a member of the Edewecht Community Council since 1996 and has been chairwoman of the SPD district parliamentary group since 2006.

Rakow has been a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament since 2003; She was re-elected in 2008 and 2013. She is currently chairman of the committee for the environment, energy and climate protection and, as secretary, member of the state parliament's presidium. She has announced that she will not stand again in the election for the 18th Lower Saxony state parliament .
