Sigrun Vågeng (born October 29, 1950 in Kristiansund ) is a Norwegian authority director and association official . From September 2015 to June 2020 she was the head of the Norwegian authority NAV , which is responsible for the organization and financing of labor market measures, social assistance and social security benefits .

Life

Vågeng studied business administration at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Business School (NHH). From 1980 she worked as a personnel manager in the Grand Hotel in Oslo . From 1990 to 1994 she was chairman of the Norwegian Hotel and Restaurant Association. She then moved to Prosessindustriens Landsforening (PIL), a business and employers' association . From 1997 she was the director and head of the employers' department. In 2001 she became the head of Næringslivets Hovedorganisasjon (NHO), the parent organization of PIL. Vågeng stayed there until 2009 and then accepted the post of administrative director at KS, the central association of Norwegian municipalities . After disagreements on the board of the municipal association, she resigned from the post in 2013. From 2014 to 2015 she was director of the Statens institutt for forbruksforskning (SIFO; German : State Institute for Consumer Research).

On September 18, 2015 she was introduced as the new head of NAV and she took up the position on October 5, 2015. She was elected for six years, but announced in January 2020 that she would leave the post beforehand. Before that, she was criticized for the so-called NAV scandal . It became known that the agency had misapplied a law for several years and that people had been illegally sentenced as a result. Your last working day at the authority was finally at the end of June 2020.
