Olędry ( German  Wagenfeld ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship within the Gmina Wielbark (urban and rural community Willenberg ) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).

Geographical location

Olędry is located in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 21 kilometers south of the district town of Szczytno ( German  Ortelsburg ).

history

With its widely scattered courtyards, Wagenfeld was created in the course of the amelioration measures in Lattanabruch ( Bagna Łatana in Polish ) at the end of the 18th century. At Wagenfeld, too, according to royal orders, the village was not laid out as a closed settlement, but the houses were built not far from the land to be cultivated. In 1841 a total of 14 owners were named for the village.

Between 1874 and 1945, Wagenfeld was in the District United Lattana (Polish Latana Wielka incorporated), which - for - 1938 "District Großheidenau" renamed East Prussian district Szczytno belonged.

On December 1, 1910, 88 residents were registered in the rural community of Wagenfeld. Their number rose to 91 by 1933 and totaled 83 in 1939.

Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population voted in the referendums in East and West Prussia on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Wagenfeld, 58 people voted to remain with East Prussia, while Poland received 3 votes.

When all of southern East Prussia fell to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Wagenfeld was also affected. The village was given the Polish name form "Olędry" and is today with the seat of a Schulzenamt (Polish Sołectwo ) a place in the network of the urban and rural community Wielbark (Willenberg) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Voivodeship Belonging to Warmia-Masuria .
