Almost sixteen-year-old Olivia Silber and her little sister Mia arrive at London Heathrow Airport full of anticipation for their new life after spending their summer holidays with their father in Zurich . Now they finally want to find a real home in an old cottage in Oxford. This is her sixth move in the past eight years. Due to the constantly changing jobs of their mother Ann, they had previously lived in six different countries on a total of four continents . Dr. Dr. Ann Methwes is 46 years old and a successful professor of literature who received a long-awaited teaching position at Oxford University. The father of the two girls does not believe in long-term residence either. He is a German engineer and researches mainly on hybrid vehicles. The two parents have lived separately for years, so Liv and Mia only see their father during the summer holidays. The Bavarian nanny Lottie Wastlhufer has been part of the family for twelve years so that his daughters can continue to learn to speak German during his absence.

Having just landed in their new home, Liv and Mia's hopes are disappointed. Next to her mother at the exit of the airport building is' Mr. Change of plan 'aka Ernest Spencer, her mother's new boyfriend. Instead of going to the cottage , they go to a temporary apartment in London organized by Ernest. The next day, the Silver Sisters' first day of school begins at their new Frognal Academy school . Mia and Liv are used to being the new ones. This time the first day is going comparatively well for both of them. In contrast to the family reunification with Ernest's children at dinner. None of the children like the news that the Silber family, including their nanny and dog, will move in with the Spencer in two weeks. However, Florence, Ernest's seventeen-year-old daughter, seems to have had the greatest difficulty with this change. She is disappointed that her twin brother Grayson does not support her outrage sufficiently. Grayson even lends Liv a sweater after spilling her juice on her top.

When Liv later goes to sleep wearing this sweater, she meets Grayson in a dream and follows him to a cemetery. There Liv hides in a tree and watches him and his friends Arthur, Jasper and Henry perform an eerie ritual. In the midst of this, Liv falls from her hiding place onto an altar around which the boys have gathered. The next day at school, Liv wonders about her detailed memories of what happened in the dream. Additionally, it occurs to her that the boys seem to know things about her that she only revealed in dreams. In the following nights, Liv conducts experiments and finds out that it is possible to dream together with others. All you have to do is recognize that you are dreaming, then step through your dream door into a corridor and from there you can get into the dreams of others. All you need is something that belongs to the person whose dreams you want to visit.

Despite numerous warnings from her stepbrother, Liv joins the League of Dream Travelers at a party. It takes up the free space that Arthur's friend Anabel left. Anabel has been studying in Switzerland for a few weeks. Also, she broke the rules of the ritual by losing her virginity. A few days later, the time has come: Liv swears her allegiance to the demon during a ritual and in return is allowed to express a heartfelt wish. This heart's desire will come true as long as she sticks to the rules of the game. Otherwise the demon will take what is most valuable to you in the whole world. Liv wishes that there are no demons. The ritual is sealed when all five participants let a few drops of blood run into a goblet and each takes a sip of the diluted blood mixture. Liv's curiosity is aroused and every night she tests eagerly what is possible in her dreams and in the dream corridor. She is often accompanied by Henry. During these trips together, the two get to know each other better and better and soon fall in love. However, feelings and tenderness are initially limited to the dream world. Henry seems to have family problems that he tries to hide from Liv. It was only when the Frognal Academy Fall Ball took place that Henry publicly acknowledged Liv by inviting her to join him. The initial euphoria suddenly subsides when Liv learns from Grayson's friend Emily that Anabel and Arthur have left the ball together. Since Liv doesn't trust Arthur and fears that he might harm his girlfriend for ritual reasons, she follows the two of them into a mausoleum. But instead of Arthur, Anabel turns out to be a threat. Before Liv can be really hurt by Anabel, Henry and Grayson come to her aid. Anabel is placed in a psychiatric clinic after that night. Nevertheless, Liv meets her in the dream corridor, where Anabel has lost none of her power.

Liv snuck into Charles Spencer (Ernest's brother) dream to test his intentions towards Lottie. The operation fails, however, because of the alarm of a smoke detector that pulls Charles out of his dream. Liv and Henry are still together, although most of their relationship continues to take place in their dreams. Liv is upset that Henry has never invited her to his home. In addition, Secrecy, who writes a blog about the students at Frognal Academy , goes online about their non-existent sex lives, which Liv doesn't like at all. Arthur is avoided by most of his classmates at school after the incidents in the cemetery, for which he blames Liv.

The Silber family now meets Ernests and Charles' mother. The very conservative Philipe Adelaide Spencer is not thrilled that her son is with an American and that a German maid lives in his house. Mrs. Spencer still connects Germany exclusively with the National Socialists. Since Liv and Mia don't like them any more than the other way around, they give Mrs Spencer the secret nickname "The Beast in Ocher" or "The Bocker" for short because of the color of their clothes. Because the Bocker takes neither her mother's university degrees nor Lottie's assurances that she does not share the Nazis' views seriously, Liv and Mia decide to take revenge on her. They secretly leave the house at night and prune the goat's beloved boxwood named Mr Snuggles in their front yard. Unfortunately, Secrecy soon unmasked the two of them as perpetrators. The whole school and the family (especially Florence) are outraged by the devious action of the Silver Sisters. Only Henry sticks to them at this time.

Meanwhile, an eerie figure who calls himself 'Senator Death' is up to mischief in the dream corridor. Liv and Henry find out that this is Anabel's psychiatrist from the clinic. In her numerous sessions, Anabel has taught him to leave his dreams and enter the corridor to better influence him. Liv can't stand it any longer and complains to Henry that she has never been allowed to visit him at home. After a long conversation in which Henry tried unsuccessfully to pull himself out of responsibility, he finally invited Liv. The night before the planned meeting, Liv sneaks after Henry in the dream corridor and catches him in the dream of a certain B naked in the whirlpool with her. Liv has seen enough and separates from Henry. Shortly thereafter, Ernest's 53rd birthday is due, which he celebrates with the whole family in a restaurant. The mood among the guests is noticeably tense and Liv, who has never told anyone about the breakup, has a lot to do with suppressing her feelings. In addition to all this, Ernest surprises everyone present with a marriage proposal to Ann. Emily and Grayson also split up soon after, which infuriates Mrs. Spencer once more.

Meanwhile, Mia has started sleepwalking. She walks through the house at night and even tries to leave it through the front door. Liv and Greyson can barely save her from potential danger on London's night streets and get her back to bed. Liv suspects that someone is influencing Mia's dreams and deliberately putting her at risk. That's why Liv, Grayson and Henry take turns guarding Mia's dream door. When Liv enters Mia's dreams one night, there is already someone pretending to be Liv. That someone is Arthur, who tries to get revenge on Liv by putting her sister in danger. Liv follows Arthur again in Mia's dreams. There he is just about to let Mia jump out the window on the second floor of the Spencer house. Liv tries with great effort to wake up and save her little sister, but Arthur holds her captive in a dream with his powers. Right before Mia actually jumps out the window, Arthur suddenly wakes up. Grayson drove to him, got in and woke him up with a slap in the face. Greyson also takes Arthur off Mia's glove, through which he could even get into her dreams. Mia is safe and the completely excited Lottie tries to calm herself and the children with her 'all year round vanilla croissants'. At the Grayson and Florence 18th birthday party, Liv and Henry dance together, although they are still separated. Henry explains that his family problems are now resolved. When they then meet in a dream, they meet Anabel, who wants to help them defend themselves against Arthur.

It's springtime in London and Mr Snuggles has long been forgotten. Anabel's psychiatrist is still impressed with her and her story. Her father had told him that Anabel to the childhood with her mother in a sect - community lived. Henry and Liv have become closer again in the past few weeks, but so far there has been no clarifying conversation about their relationship status. Liv also lied to him: she told him about Rasmus, a fictional boyfriend with whom she allegedly had already slept. Now she is constantly thinking about it. how to get out of this dilemma. Greyson is convinced that everything is fine again, but Liv disagrees. Because Arthur has sworn eternal revenge and Anabel is again at large. The French teacher Mrs. Lawrence climbs on the table in the middle of the canteen and suddenly reveals personal information about her past affair with a colleague. When the principal rescues her from her predicament, the confused state of the teacher reminds Liv of Mia shortly after sleepwalking. Liv immediately knows that Arthur is behind it. Apparently he seems to have found a way to influence people while they are awake and to abuse them as a puppet.

Of course, Secrecy can't spare your comment on the drama in the canteen either. "Das Bocker" is not at all delighted when she learns that Ernest and Ann want to get married in three and a half months and hires a wedding planner without being asked. Anabel's psychiatrist is now in an intensive care unit with a feeding tube because Anabel has obviously managed to prevent him from waking up from his dream. Grayson decides in a three-phase plan to save the world from Arthur, with which he also wants to help Senator Tod. In a crisis discussion between the silver sisters and their mother, Ann reveals to them that Lottie will leave the family after the wedding. Arthur is also invited to the welcome party at Jasper's house, who has just returned from France. Jasper's plan was to take Arthur back into the circle of friends. But with that he is alone, because no one else will trust him again. Liv's friend Persephone causes panic at the party with a gun in hand. The look in her eyes reminds Liv of Mrs. Lawrence while she was standing on the table. Again Arthur is behind it and it is Arthur who resolves the dangerous situation for all to see himself in order to portray himself as a hero.

Henry is looking forward to two weeks of storm-free days at the beginning of the summer vacation, during which he finally wants to sleep with Liv. He's also inviting her over for an afternoon when the rest of his family is still at home, so Liv can get to know everyone. Contrary to all fears on both sides, the meeting with Henry's family went without embarrassing incidents. Lottie is in love with Pasquale the wedding planner and has been baking only French delicacies for a week. Liv, on the other hand, lives in constant fear of possible Arthur-influenced people who want to kill her. Arthur is bitten by a poisonous snake at school and has to spend some time in the hospital. On his return he is celebrated by many students like a war hero. Liv and Mia's hopes that Lottie would stay in England if she had a friend here are disappointed. Lottie is determined to go back to Germany. Not only Liv are black feathers chasing her dream into reality. Grayson's room is also full of black feathers one night. Instead of finally telling Henry the truth about the fictional Rasmus and thus admitting that she is still a virgin, Liv tries in a dream to make the necessary experiences with her neighbor Matt. But Henry follows her exactly into this dream and after desperate attempts to hide from him, Henry finally confronts her. The truth just gushes out of Liv. She is very relieved that this lie no longer stands between them.

Mia's detective work of the last few months has come to an end. She now knows who Secrecy is and she confronts Florence, who does not even try to deny it based on the evidence. But Florence is not the only one behind it, she just succeeded the real Secrecy in collaboration with Penelope Porter-Peregrain and Emily's brother Sam. The secret of the black feathers also dissolves when Liv finds two bags of black feathers under Florence's bed. When she realizes that Florence really doesn't know where they come from, she immediately realizes that Florence has also become a victim of Arthur's nocturnal influence and that, like Mrs. Lawrence and Persephone before her, she cannot remember what she was under his influence did. The situation between Arthur and his former friends is getting worse. One night in the dream corridor, Liv and Henry meet Arthur. Your plan is to lock him up in the dreams of a deceased person, because as you have previously found out, the only way to escape from the dreams of a dead person is to find out whose dream you are in and get a personal item from that person can. After some accusations on both sides, it is finally Anabel who moves Arthur to step through the dream door of the deceased. The danger that Arthur poses in the dream is now averted and relief spreads. Anabel has seen her past mistakes and Liv and Henry are looking forward to a carefree future together. Secrecy, who previously said goodbye with a letter of apology on her blog, is now returning to the stage with the resolution to devote herself to the various forms of love in her posts. Despite all her resolutions, however, she seems to continue as before. In the same breath she announces the news that the alleged wedding planner Pasquale is a con man and the police are looking for him for fraud. The Spencer's wedding turned out to be very simple, just like Ann. "Das Bocker" suffered a slight nervous breakdown, but is now back on its feet.

characters

Olivia "Liv" Gertrud Silber is 16 years old, has moonlight blonde hair and wears "nerd glasses" or contact lenses. She thinks her nose is too big, knows Kung-Fu and is an avowed Sherlock Holmes fan, just like her sister. Shortly after moving to London, she falls in love with Henry Harper, her stepbrother Grayson's best friend.

Henry Harper is 18 years old, has blond hair that protrudes wildly and gray eyes. He's very handsome. His best friend is Grayson. He falls in love with Liv Silber, Grayson's stepsister. His siblings are called Amy and Milo Harper. Henry doesn't really like school balls but at the end of the first part he goes to the autumn ball with Liv. Henry seems to be very jealous of Liv's ex-boyfriend Rasmus, whom Liv mentions in the third part (later he learns that the ex-boyfriend was just made up). You can tell that Henry and Liv love each other very much.

Mia Virginia Silber is 13 years old and has the same blonde hair as her big sister Liv. She also wears braces. She has a weakness for detective work and wants to expose Secrecy, which she finally manages.

Ann Mathews is a slim, 46-year-old professor of literature with long legs and blue eyes. She recently had a short haircut and Liv compares her to Gwyneth Paltrow. According to her daughter, however, she also fully corresponds to the cliché of the confused professor, since she has forgotten to pick up Mia several times in the past, forgot what the dog's name is or where she parked her car.

Ernest Spencer (aka 'Mr. Change of Plan') is over 50 years old and is already bald, big ears and teeth that are a little too white. His first wife died over 10 years ago from the effects of Hautington Syndrome. He lives with his children, twins Florence and Greyson, in a nice big house in London. He is a well-known (star) lawyer and, thanks to his deceased wife's heir to the throne 201, he is in high society. That's why he was able to quickly get Liv and Mia a place at the Frognal Academy , which actually has a long waiting list. Ernest's professional area of expertise is international business law. He and Ann met at a party in Pretoria.

Lotti Wastlhuber is the Bavarian nanny of the Silber family. The father of the silver sisters had hired her at the time so that his daughters could continue to learn German during his absence. She is in her early 30s, has brown eyes and brown curly hair. She joined the family twelve years ago as an au pair and has since been an important reference person for Mia and Liv and one of the few constants in their turbulent, moving life. She cooks and bakes for everyone and raises the children while Ann makes a career as a lecturer.

Grayson Spencer is Ernest's seventeen-year-old son and the twin brother of Florence. He is tall, blonde, and has caramel brown eyes. Playing basketball with his best friends Jasper Henry and Arthur has given him broad shoulders. He is friendly to the silver sisters from the start, which his sister doesn't like at all. His girlfriend is Emily Clark from whom he separates in the second book.

Florence Spencer is Grayson's twin sister and is also seventeen years old. She has auburn hair, light brown eyes, and freckles. Liv describes her as very pretty. In contrast to her brother, she is not at all enthusiastic about her father's new relationship and she literally freaks out when she learns that the whole family is moving in silver with her. Her best friend is her brother Emily Clark's friend, who is also not a fan of Liv and Mia.

Emily Clark is Florence's best friend and is with Grayson. She is the editor-in-chief of the Frognal Academy's student newspaper and is one of the best students in the whole school. She has a brother named Sam and gets on very well with Grayson's grandma.

Philippa Adelaide Spencer is often called "The Beast in Ocher" or "The Bocker" for short by Liv and Mia. She is the mother of Ernest and Charles Spencer and Florence and Garyson's grandmother. She is very conservative and has something against Ann's American origins as well as Lottie's German roots. She is particularly proud of her well-tended front yard with the box tree in the shape of a peacock, which she named Mr. Snuggles.

Secrecy is the pseudonym of the author of the Tittle Tattle blog. An online forum posting secrets and rumors from Frognal Academy's students . Her identity is unknown until the third part. In the end, it is Mia who reveals Florence, Pandora Porter-Peregrin and Emily's brother Sam as successors to the earlier Secrecy. Secrecy is something like the counterpart to Gossip Girl in the US series of the same name.

Arthur Hamilton is the eighteen-year-old former boyfriend of Henry, Grayson and Jasper. At Frognal Academy he's a crush on nearly all girls and Liv describes his looks as angelic. He is a dream traveler and masters various powers in dreams. He can also manipulate people during the day with a pre-determined code word and let them do things against their will and without their knowledge. At the beginning of the book series, he is with Anabel Scott, whom he loves more than anything and fully engages in her demon cult. In the course of the story he turns out to be a villain who is after Liv and wants to ruin her life out of revenge and then end it.

Anabel Scott and her boyfriend Arthur were considered the dream couple at Frognal Academy before they moved to Switzerland to study after graduating from school. Until she was three years old, Anabel grew up with her mother, who belonged to a demonic sect. Only then could her father get her home through a legal process. Anabel, too, has succumbed to the belief in demonic powers and casts her friend's clique under her spell on a Halloween evening. In the end, she sinks so deeply into this belief that she even tries to sacrifice Liv as a human being for her demon god. She was then admitted to a psychiatric clinic from which she was later released. Her views seem to have changed and when her ex-boyfriend Arthur becomes a threat, she helps Liv and Henry lock him up in the dreams of a deceased woman and put him down.

Persephone Porter-Peregrin goes to the eleventh grade of the Frognal Academy like Liv and due to their identical timetables, she is assigned to Liv as godmother on the first day to show her the school. Persephone has a brother named Priam and a sister named Pandora. She comes from a wealthy family and at first seems quite arrogant and conceited. She is particularly annoyed with Liv with her obsession with Jasper Grant. Generally, Liv finds her rather unsympathetic at first. As the story progresses, the two girls get closer and closer until they are good friends in the end.
