The Silence climbing route is probably the world's first climbing route with difficulty 9c (French) or XII (UIAA) or 5.15d (Sierra). The route was set up by the Czech climber Adam Ondra in the “Hanshallaren” cave near Flatanger in Norway. On September 3, 2017, he climbed it for the first time without falling after several years of project planning. During the time Ondra tried the route, it was known as Project Hard . After the successful climb she was given the official name Silence , because Ondra wanted to scream for completion, but was too overwhelmed by the success to disturb the calm.

The first 20 meters of the extremely overhanging, 45-meter-long route are approximately 8b (French) with a few good knee clamps. This is followed by a boulder-like key point, consisting of ten moves in bouldering grade FB 8c.

In the same cave is the climbing route The Change (suggested difficulty 9b +), which was also first climbed by Ondra.

The route has not been repeated since it was first climbed. This means that the proposed level of difficulty has not yet been confirmed by another climber.
