Silke Mueller

Silke Müller (born November 23, 1978 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German hockey player , she won the Olympic gold medal in 2004.

Career

Silke Müller was in a day care center in a group of the 1984 Olympian Beate Deininger , which she won for hockey. Silke Müller joined Eintracht Frankfurt and went through all youth teams there. In 1997 she celebrated her first success in the adult class when the Frankfurt women won the German indoor championship. In 2001, the rather small midfielder with a height of 1.65 meters moved to RK Rüsselsheim . In 2001 and 2004 she won the German field hockey championship with Rüsselsheim, in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 the Rüsselsheim women won in the hall. Also from 2002 to 2005, the Rüsselsheim team won the European Cup in the hall with Silke Müller.

In 2000, Silke Müller made her debut in the German national hockey team and immediately became European indoor champion. After finishing seventh at the 2002 World Cup in Perth, the German team won the bronze medal at the 2003 European Open Air Championship. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , Silke Müller took part in all six games, in the final the German women won 2-1 over the Netherlands. In 2005 Silke Müller won silver at the European Championship in Dublin, this time the Dutch women won the final. In 2006 Silke Müller took part in the European Indoor Championships again and won her second title after 2000. Silke Müller played a total of 130 international matches from 2000 to 2006, 10 of them indoors.
