Silvia Fazzo

Silvia Fazzo (* before 1985) is an Italian historian of philosophy and classical philologist .

Career

After obtaining the Laurea in Classical Philology from the University of Pavia (1985) and a Doctorate di Ricerca in Philosophy from the University of Turin (1997), Fazzo obtained a Doctorate in Ricerca in Classical Philology (Italy, University of Trento , 2004 to 2009) and in Philosophy (in Lille , 2004 to 2009; she had previously obtained a Diplôme d'Études Approfondies from the École Pratique des Hautes Études ). In 2014 she obtained her habilitation in the history of philosophy as well as in classical and late antique philology. From 1987 she also taught at the liceo classico "Cesare Beccaria" in Milan.

Research priorities

Fazzo is essentially working on a text-critical new edition of the Metaphysics of Aristotle including Arabic and Syrian tradition and on the text On the Principles of the Universe by Alexander of Aphrodisias, which is only preserved in a Syrian and Arabic translation.
