Silvia Rubik

Silvia Rubik (born June 16, 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2004 to October 2019 she was a member of the State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

Life

Silvia Rubik attended elementary and secondary school in the Landstrasse district and completed her education with the polytechnic course in 1974/75. She then attended an apprenticeship as a hairdresser between 1975 and 1976 and began training as a data typist and hole punch in 1976. She then worked from 1978 as an employee of the Vienna Social Services (from 2002 Wiener Sozialdienste Alten- und Pflegedienste GmbH).

From 1986 to 1992, Rubik was politically active with the Kinderfreunde in Velm-Götzendorf and subsequently became involved in the district politics of Penzing . She has been the women's officer in Section 14 since 1994, was elected deputy chairwoman of the section in 1997 and has been the deputy district women's chairwoman since 1998. From 2000 to 2004 she was a district councilor before moving to the Vienna state parliament and municipal council in 2004. During the 18th legislative period she was a member of the committee “Integration, Women's Issues, Consumer Protection and Personnel”.

In October 2019 she was succeeded by Andrea Mautz-Leopold as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and member of the Vienna City Council.
