Silvia Stöger (born February 18, 1945 in Hollabrunn , Lower Austria ) is a former Upper Austrian social democratic councilor.

The daughter of Rudolf Günther, the head of the superstructure department of the Austrian Federal Railways , and Anna Guenther, a general practitioner, attended the Bundesrealgymnasium Vienna 13. After her medical degree was awarded a doctorate in 1971. She spent eight months of their study activity at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore , a For a year she was trained at the 1st Medical University Clinic in the Department of Gastroenterology in the USA . At the 2nd University Women's Clinic in Vienna, she trained as a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics. She completed her specialist medical degree in 1978.

Professional background

In 2000, Stöger became regional councilor for the social democratic party in Upper Austria. She has been married to the gynecologist Helmut Stöger since 1975. The two have three children: Karl (* 1976), Marion (* 1979) and Karin (* 1981).

After leaving the Vienna Clinic, she worked in her husband's practice in Horn . In January 1981 she was employed by the Lower Austrian regional health insurance fund as a gynecologist for the Horn health examination center. In 1982 Horn moved to Linz and joined the BSA O.Ö. In November of the same year, Stöger opened a practice for gynecology in the Kleinmünchen district of Linz .

She helped set up the Bily advice center , an association for youth, family and sexual counseling, which was founded by the socialist women.

She also held seminars on neuro-linguistic programming . She received a diploma in psychosocial medicine in 1994 and a diploma in psychosomatic medicine in 1996. She completed her training as a doctor for psychotherapeutic medicine in 1999.

From 2003 to 2009 she was a regional councilor. a. the task groups of medical service and law and veterinary service and law, as well as administrative police in matters of the Animal Welfare Act, also with regard to environmental protection, the monitoring of compliance with the provisions of the Chemicals Act.
