The Silvretta Bahn is a cable car (detachable 8- seater chairlift , 8-CLD / B) in St. Gallenkirch in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg .
The Silvretta Bahn connects a valley station at 1,460 m above sea level. A. (Garfrescha) with the mountain station at 2145 m above sea level. A. (Gampapinger Berg). The system is owned by Silvretta Montafon GmbH . The name of the cable car was found in an open process with public participation.
history
The Garfrescha Bahn II 2-seater chairlift had existed near the Silvretta Bahn since 1972. In order to reach the same terminus as the Silvretta Bahn, it was necessary to change trains three times.
The Silvretta Bahn was built from June to December 2016, the trial operation began on October 31, the official commissioning took place on November 29, 2016 and passenger service began on December 10, 2016. The grand opening took place on January 11, 2017. With a maximum travel speed of 5.5 m / s, the lift was considered the fastest 8-seater chairlift in Vorarlberg. 13.7 million euros were invested. The Garfrescha Bahn II was canceled.

Both valley stations are connected by a ski bridge. The mountain station of the Silvretta Bahn is close to the mountain station of the Sonnen Bahn on Gampapinger Berg.
