Simon-Joseph Pellegrin
Abbé Simon-Joseph Pellegrin (* 1663 in Marseille ; † September 5, 1745 in Paris ) was a French poet , librettist and dramaturge . On the recommendation of Madame de Maintenon , he entered the order of the Cluniac .
Several of his librettos were set to music and performed at the Paris Opera : Télémaque with music by André Cardinal Destouches (1714), Renaud, ou la suite d'Armide , with music by Henry Desmarest (1722), Jephté with music by Michel Pignolet de Montéclair ( 1732), and Hippolyte et Aricie , Jean-Philippe Rameau's first opera (1733).
