Simon Jonathan Dawkins (born December 1, 1987 in Edgware ) is an English-Jamaican football player . Dawkins comes from the youth division of Tottenham Hotspur , where he was, apart from a short time as a freelance player, the entire time of his career under contract. Dawkins can play on both the flanks and the offensive midfield position and is sometimes used as a real striker.

Career

Dawkins joined the youth department of the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in 2004 . In 2008 he advanced to the professional squad and was in the first round of the UEFA Cup . For the time being, Dawkins did not come to any other employment opportunities before he was awarded in July 2008 for six months to third division Leyton Orient . At Orient he made his league and cup debuts and made a total of twelve appearances.

His contract, which expired in the summer of 2009, was not extended, so Dawkins was looking for a new employer for the time being. After a trial at Racing Strasbourg and an injury, Dawkins decided to take part in the training of the Spurs without a contract . After further training at Celtic Glasgow and the AFC Bournemouth and continued training at Tottenham, he was rewarded there in March 2011 with a new professional contract, which is valid until June 2013.

Just one day after signing the new contract, Dawkins was awarded to the US Major League Soccer to the San José Earthquakes . With the team, Dawkins secured the MLS Supporters' Shield in the second season , which is awarded to the team with the highest points in the season. In the subsequent play-offs , the Earthquakes failed in the quarter-finals. After 53 games and 14 goals scored, Dawkins returned to England in January 2013.

On the last day of the transfer window, he was loaned to Tottenham's league rivals Aston Villa for the remainder of the 2012/13 season, where he made his Premier League debut a little later.

On January 3, 2014 Dawkins moved to the second division Derby County .

On January 6, 2016, Dawkins moved to Major League Soccer for the San José Earthquakes.

Personal

Dawkins is eligible to play for the Jamaican national team because his grandparents came to England from the Caribbean island, and he says he would like to play for them.
