Simon Kuper

Simon Kuper (born October 15, 1969 in Kampala ) is a British journalist. The main focus of his work is football , but he has also published on other sports.

Life

Kuper is the son of the South African anthropologist Adam Kuper , with whom he moved to the Netherlands as a child. There he essentially grew up, interrupted by stays abroad due to his father's teaching and research activities in Germany, the United States, South Africa and Great Britain. He studied German and history at Oxford University and later Harvard University . He then worked primarily as a journalist, initially dealing with finance and the like. a. wrote at the Financial Times . Kuper has a column in Life & Arts in FT Weekend (2017) .

In 1994 Kuper's first work Football Against the Enemy appeared , which brought him several awards. As a result, he wrote several books in which he described the cultural environment around football. He has also worked as a columnist for The Observer , The Guardian and the Financial Times in the UK and De Pers and Vrij Nederland in the Netherlands. He regularly contributes to the Dutch football magazine Hard Gras , and features have also appeared in other-language specialist magazines such as 11 Freunde or Offside .
