Simon Rytz (born September 14, 1983 in Biel ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with EHC Olten in the National League B since the 2017/18 season . His brother Philipp is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Simon Rytz began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of EHC Biel , for whose professional team he was active in the National League B from 2002 to 2004 . The goalkeeper spent the following season at NLB league rivals HC La Chaux-de-Fonds . From 2007 to 2011 he competed for HC Ajoie in the NLB. For the 2011/12 season he was committed by Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A , where he made his first appearances in the top Swiss league. At the same time, he played seven games as a loan player for his ex-club HC Ajoie in the NLB. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season , Rytz was loaned for four games to NLA league rivals EV Zug before he returned to Friborg-Gottéron. During the season he was also loaned out to HC Red Ice from the NLB for a few games , so that he only made four NLA appearances for Friborg. In February 2013, the EHC Biel announced Rytz's commitment. In Biel he developed into a regular goalkeeper in the following years, displacing Lukas Meili, among others, to the bench. Rytz lost his post for the 2016/17 season when EHC Biel landed a transfer coup with Jonas Hillers from the NHL . The only thing left for the native Bieler was the role of substitute goalkeeper.

After a season as a substitute goalkeeper at EHC Biel, Rytz asked for the termination of his contract. He then moved to the NLB for EHC Olten .
