Simon Washer

Simon Wascher (* 1966 in Linz ) is an Austrian musician and dancer.

Life

Wascher, who grew up in Kremsmünster , plays the alto hurdy-gurdy as a musician . He plays in the ensembles Bilwesz and Schikaneders Jugend , among others . The latter focuses on traditional dance music from German-speaking countries.

From 1993 to 2001 he was artistic director and artistic director of the BordunMusik festival and has been a co-designer of the Klangrausch meeting since 2006.

In 2003, Wascher received first prize as a soloist at Rencontres internationales de Luthiers et Maîtres Sonneurs de Saint-Chartier and second prize in a duet with Merit Zloch .

He lives in Vienna .
