Simon of Lipnica

Simon von Lipnica (* around 1438 in Lipnica , Poland; † July 18, 1482 in Krakow , Poland) was a Catholic monk and saint .

Simon joined the Franciscan Friars Minor in 1457 and was a successful preacher. He was also head of several Polish Franciscan monasteries. After the General Chapter of the Franciscans in Padua in 1478, in which he himself participated, Simon went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Rome. He provided help during the plague epidemic in Kraków, eventually fell ill with the plague himself and died seven days later.

His canonization took place in 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. , after the beatification by Innocent XI. 1685.
