history

There was a church in the village of Lipnica as early as 1325 (the name is derived from linden , in Polish lipa ). In 1326 King Władysław I. Ellenlang issued the foundation privilege under Neumarkt law for the foundation of a new town on the grounds of the village of Villa Conradi . This village was sometimes identified as the neighboring village of Lipnica Dolna and the privilege was therefore considered the beginning of Lipnica Murowana. In 1364 a new parish church was donated by King Casimir the Great . Fifteen years later, Neumarkt law was replaced by Magdeburg law.

In the 15th century the suburbs of Lipnica Dolna (founded in 1416 - if not earlier than Conradi Villa) and Lipnica Górna (founded in 1470), the present-day villages of the municipality. In 1580 the city had about 1000 inhabitants.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Lipnica became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Lipnica came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . Lipnica Murowana lost its town charter in 1933.

From 1975 to 1998 Lipnica was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
