The Sinan-Beg Mosque ( Sinan-begova džamija ) was a mosque in Čajniče (Чајниче) in Bosnia and Herzegovina near the border with Montenegro .

history

The mosque was built in 1570 on behalf of Sandschakbegs built Sinan Beg Boljanović. Like all mosques in Čajniče, it was destroyed during the Bosnian War and not rebuilt.

investment

Like the Aladža Mosque in Foča and the Ali Pascha Mosque in Sarajevo, the mosque was built in the “classic” style on a square floor plan and had a large dome on an octagonal drum . The large vestibule at the front rested on four pillars and was crowned by three small domes. The fluted minaret stood directly next to the structure; it had a decorated scissor . Next to the mosque there were two burial chambers for the founder and his wife, which were vaulted by domes.
