The Vereinigte Volksbank Raiffeisenbank eG , based in Wittlich, is a German cooperative bank . It was created with effect from September 22, 2008 from the merger of Raiffeisenbank Bernkastel-Wittlich eG and Vereinigte Volksbank eG, Cochem. It is one of the largest cooperative banks in the region between Koblenz and Trier . The owners of the bank are the members of the cooperative.

The organs of the cooperative bank are the board of directors, the supervisory board and the representative assembly. It belongs to the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks .

Business area and customers

The business area extends over large parts of the districts of Bernkastel-Wittlich and Cochem-Zell . 16 branches are maintained in the business area, divided into three sub-markets (Wittlich, Cochem / Eifel and Bernkastel-Kues ). The bank has around 45,000 customers, 22,527 of whom are cooperative members and thus partners in the bank (as of December 31, 2019).

Today's bank was created through a large number of mergers. The parent institute based in Wittlich was founded on April 25, 1902. The oldest legal predecessor, the Cochemer Volksbank, was founded in 1869. The energy cooperative MEHR Energie eG was founded on May 9, 2012 in Cochem-Zell. The United Volksbank Raiffeisenbank eG was one of the founding initiators.
