The Sinclair Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .

geography

The Sinclair Range is located west of the Rangitata River and east of the Two Thumb Range . In the north the Brabazon Range borders and in the south the mountain range passes through the Bullock Bow Saddle into an extension of the Two Thumb Range . Six peaks of the mountain range, which extends over a length of 16 km in a south-southwest-north-northeast direction, have a height of over 2000  m , of which the highest peak, Mount Sinclair , has a height of 2065  m .

On the west and north flanks of the mountains, the Bush Stream accompanies the mountain range and on the east flank numerous smaller streams feed their waters to the Rangitata River . The Forest Creek Track , which runs east to west over the Bullock Bow Saddle , and the Bush Stream Track , which begins in the valley of the Rangitata River and runs largely along the Bush Stream to the Royal Hut in the Two Thumb Range , are interesting for mountain hikers .

Administratively, the Sinclair Range is part of the Mackenzie District .

Conservation Park

The Sinclair Range is part of the Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park and is administered by the Department of Conservation .
