Sing it! is an R & B - album , the Marcia Ball , Irma Thomas and Tracy Nelson 1998 Rounder Records have recorded.

General

The three singers have always been fans of each other, but rarely had musical contact. Duets were sung, but never all three sang together. Marcia Ball listened to Irma Thomas recordings as a teenager and her albums were among the first to buy. A few years ago Brad Paul put together a show in New Orleans on which the three vocalists performed together, as they had just released a record on Rounder that they were supposed to promote. "We sang together, completely off the cuff, and it worked!", Remembers Marcia Ball. This gig was the origin of the album and Irma Thomas made sure that everything went well. The three singers unanimously said that they had a lot of fun with the recording. Difficult was the fact that each lived in a different city and they had little time to rehearse.

The band they were in the studio with are also some of the best that southern R&B has to offer. Michael Toles played guitar on Isaac Hayes Shaft's recording , Lee Zeno played bass on Buckwheat Zydeco, and drummer Raymond Weber played with Harry Connick, Jr.
